Where are all the black men in Higher Education?

While scrolling on Facebook today, I came across an article that gave me pause. It was entitled, “Why All African American Males Should Go to College, But Probably Won’t.”

I had the honor of attending Spelman College for undergrad, which of course has Morehouse across the street. (Morehouse is the only all male historically black institution of higher learning in the United States.) So my perception of black men in higher education was inherently skewed. It wasn’t until I came to law school and saw how few of “us” (people of color) were in our classes, I truly understood the effect the opportunity and achievement gap was having on diversity in higher education.

What say you? Do you agree or disagree with Dr. Marks?
